Mumbai, December 13, 2015: For the uninformed (who aren’t many), Durjoy Datta is an Indian writer catering to the romantic fiction space. Apart from 10+ bestselling titles, he has also written TV shows like Sadda Haq and Million Dollar Girl for Channel V.
After a successful academic stretch between Delhi Technological University (Formerly DCE) and Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, Durjoy left his high-paying American Express Marketing job in Singapore to become a full-time writer. As the publishing industry has witnessed, the decision turned out to be a lynchpin in shaping up Datta as a viable youth icon among millennial Indian readers. His first book has been published by three publishers (A record in itself) and one of those publishing houses is his own brainchild.
In 2011, Durjoy started Grapevine India Publishers with fellow authors Sachin Garg, Nikita Singh and Sudhanshu Gupta. In the process of publishing highly resonating and engaging commercial paperback titles, the group generated a veritable buzz in the print/publishing industry. Many talented authors such as Saurabh Garg, Anjali Kirpalani, Shama Patel, Divya Jalan and Shomprakash Sinha Roy were launched by his publishing house, who themselves went on to become publishing legends in their own right. In 2013, Penguin India’s Vaishali Mathur signed Datta to write for Penguin Metro Reads.
However, Durjoy’s stellar performance in the world of publishing can be attributed to multiple factors, such as an extensive knowledge of social media best practices and most noteworthily- his sheer prolificity. Durjoy is known for producing bestsellers year-on-year, and he won’t fail to impress his fans in 2016 either. Leveraging his high-value social media audience, Durjoy has revealed that his next book Our Impossible Love will release in January 2016. Penguin Random House India’s commercial imprint Metro Reads will publish the title. We wish him all the best for his new book and hope that it generates a lot of dimple-filled smiles.
