Mumbai, December 2, 2015 – Mumbai is the uncrowned king of foodies in India. Irrespective of whether you’re a fine dining patron or a street food junkie, you are sure to find remarkable places in the city of dreams, offering an absolute mouthful of dining options. The icing on the cake is that Mumbai is a beach city; you can enjoy an abundance of sea-facing beauty from most eateries. Moreover, it is also the ultimate ‘city of skyscrapers’ of India. The penthouse-esque view from most high rise resto-bars, is irresistible. I’m someone who swears by ambience when it comes to my choice of platters. Fine music, great view and perfect hospitality add up to the perfect dining experience. For newbies to Mumbai, here are five places which will serve your finer senses.

1. Pizza By The Bay

Pizza By The Bay
This quaint little eatery is situated at Churchgate, right opposite one of the most famous hangout places in Mumbai, Marine Drive. The interiors are mostly white, adding the pristine illusion of space, with french windows offering an archetypal view of the bay. Going by its name, it serves mouth-watering pizzas; though you shouldn’t skip the breakfast meals. While every Pizza is made in their signature style, imparting an authentic Italian taste, the desserts are a must try too; with delicacies like Baked Citrus Cheese Cake and Figs and Mascarpone Brownie to tantalize your taste buds. Be it day or night, this restaurant offers a wonderful view of Marine Drive.

2. AER Lounge

AER Lounge

Offering a panoramic view of the city, AER (Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai’s rooftop bar) is a must visit. This lounge sits atop the 34th floor of the hotel and doesn’t fail a single bit in charming you with its view. Floral tresses and icy cocktails are the best way to kick back and experience Mumbai in all its glory. You can visit this lounge all the year round, as they have a canopy and windscreen during monsoon. Make a visit here during summers for the sunset, winters for the trifling chill and monsoons for the Da-Vinci clouds. Their buoyant mix of jazz, funk, house and club music is in perfect sync with AER’s unmistakeable vibrance.

3. Corniche – At The Waterfront

At the waterfront
An impeccable place for a date, this place is ideal to spend some discreet time. Bang on Carter road in Bandra, it has a pleasing sea view. The dim, romantic lighting and their decidedly minuscule furniture bring romance alive in the midst of an otherwise bustling city. Famous for a delectable sea food and wine collection, they take pride in their Sangria, and in intriguing cocktails such as the ‘Walking Tall’ and the mischievous ‘Wake me Up’. Oh, did I mention Oriental Lamb Skewers and Crostini?

4. Gadda Da Vida

Gadda Da Vida
This specialty restaurant-offshoot of the Novatel Hotel offers a splendid view of the sprawling Juhu beach. It’s visited by many and loved by all. You can see old and young people flocking in equal numbers, to get the best tables as evening sets. The cosy sofas and cushions help you relax while looking at the sunset. You can choose from a wide variety of teas and coffee brews, or have one of their quirkily named cocktails.

5. Skky

Ramada, Skyy
This one (managed by Ramada) is located in the heart of Powai, where you can wine and dine amidst the beautiful green hills. The restaurant is aptly named, as one can enjoy a beautiful aerial view. Must tries : Sushi and Sashimi. The rolls are also a good option. The Sitaphal Rasmalai is a brilliant companion to an Indian platter.
